Window Seat  – The Art of Digital Photography and Creative Thinking by Julieanne Kost is Now Available!

Adobe PhotoshopPhotography

I’m pleased to announce that my book Window Seat  – The Art of Digital Photography and Creative Thinking is now available as an eBook via the iTunes store!  First published as a soft-back book, this redesigned and revised eBook was published as a Fixed Layout EPUB directly from the newest release of InDesign CC (2014). It has been enhanced with new photographs as well as updated image processing techniques in Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop.
Part manifesto, part artist’s portfolio and part technical manual, Window Seat, The Art of Digital Photography and Creative Thinking is guaranteed to awaken, delight, and inspire the creative spirit that lives in all of us.
Photographer, creativity guru and Adobe digital imaging evangelist, Julieanne Kost travels by plane 200+ days a year. For the past decade, she’s been shooting photographs from those airplane windows, recording the extraordinary world that lies beyond the everyday drudgery of business travel on a commercial jet.
She urges us to consider – and embrace – that which is outside of our daily experience. To see all that we do in our lives as creative acts. To continually strive to stay awake and aware, challenging ourselves to go beyond the status quo.

I have enjoyed several of your sessions at Photoshop World and follow your FB posts & blog. Thanks!
Why is owning an IOS product necessary to benefit from this new release?
    Confused,
    Joe

Joe, I’m glad that you have enjoyed the blog and sessions at PS world! I am working on a way to distribute the book for additional devices but had to start somewhere so I choose Apple’s iBook store. It’s been interesting to self publish and am still trying to figure out all of the possible ways to distribute the book while still being able to manage the rights, accept payments, make sure that the correct taxes are charged etc. Apple’s solution takes care of all of this, and I’m sure that there are other options for the android market for example, I just need to research and find out what they are!

Please don’t limit your work to only those who use Apple products. You have many PC/android fans out here who really enjoy your work and tutorials.

Roy, I am working on additional ways to distribute the book! I had to start somewhere but hope to expand if it makes sense to! I’m glad that you enjoy the tutorials!

Cool! And we can expect the PDF version when?

I’m hoping to make it available for other devices soon, but I’m not sure how I could manage the DRM or the distribution of a PDF as a self publisher.

Enjoyed the book, and recommend it!
Given the evolution that Lightroom has gone through in recent years, I wonder whether a Photoshop/Bridge-centric workflow would still have been the authors choice, with the capabilities Lightroom has now?

Karsten -I am already working on another book with another body of work that will walk through the Lightroom workflow. Stay tuned! : )

I read your blog all the time and this book looks wonderful. However to download anything related to it I have to upgrade my OS (which I don’t want to do), get iBooks, and some other criteria.
Seems a pity but I’ll survive. I guess that I can see most of the content by reviewing your blog posts.
Keep up the good work…it’s a long way from support in the early 90’s.

    Hi Julieanne
    This looks wonderful.
However the South African iBooks Store does not feature your book and Amazon no longer ship to South Africa.
Is there some way you can expand your market reach in the iBooks Store to include the South African region ?
Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy.
    Thanks
    Stephen

I am looking into other methods of distribution, but I don’t know how soon I will be able to figure it all out…
