Photographs from New Zealand in Adobe Spark

Adobe SparkPhotography

I had the wonderful opportunity earlier this year, to take a week and explore the North Island of New Zealand. I put together a short photo story about the journey using Adobe Slate(now Adobe Spark). (Click/tap the image below to see the photographs.)

Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

      Thank you!

Superb perceptions, Julieanne. I always find it fascinating when my ‘tribal homeland’ is photographed by a ‘non-native’ 🙂
Next time you go to NZ, and I hope that is possible, don’t miss the South Island. Y
ou might find it difficult to leave. I’m sure you could set up Adobe HQ in Dunedin!
All the best from the KaunasKiwi, Lithuania…

Graeme, I will DEFINITLEY have to return to visit the South Island AND take a proper amount of time. Five weeks would be much better than five days!

Snap! This is exactly how I feel Graeme.

Outstanding Slate presentation. Beautiful images of NZ.

      Thanks Andrew!

Superb collection of images. Well done and thanks for sharing. I spent 3 weeks on the South Island, never made it to the North island. …… but the scrolling interface of the Slate Gui is a real distraction and turn off.

Absolutely amazing! I’d be happy with this as a portfolio representing an entire career. You knock this out in a single trip!
Add one more note of concern about the scrolling presentation. Not overall, in my case, but the peekaboo screen-wide views chopping your photos top and bottom do them a disservice.

This was a very creative and innovative way to present your trip photos. I especially loved the 3 sheep, the lighthouse and the shack. Thanks for the adventure and the inspiration.

Julieanne, thanks for the beautiful images showing this old man a part of the world I will never get to visit. And also thanks for all the great instruction you share.

    Hi Julieanne,
It’s a really good story – beautiful pictures.
I’m amazed by how easy it is to create an astonishing photo story with Slate.
I’ve used it for documenting and sharing my recent trips and I’ve gotten others to do the same.
I think you guys really managed to develop something that will be used a lot for years to come.
    Thanks a lot!

Great images Julieanne – I hope you come back here again soon.Your presentations at the Photographic Society of New Zealand’s National Convention were outstanding – thank you for being so awesome!

Beautiful images capturing our wonderful country. We hope you will get to do the South Island next time. A fabulous speaker and photographer whom all present at Tauranga enjoyed so very much. We look forward to seeing you again.

Beautiful work Julieanne! Just not a fan of the scrolling presentation.

Next time come and spend a week in the South Island! I follow you on Instagram and have loved seeing our beautiful country through your eye/lens. I was delighted at how well you captured the essence of our landscape; each photo to me was clearly identifiable as NZ! Thank you.

Sorry I missed you at the event I really wanted to come and see you but with baby arriving etc . . .
Isn’t it beautiful over here. Wonderful photos!

Beautiful work! I have been working with Adobe Slate to create some eye-catching event advertisements with mixed results…
What are ideal photo dimensions to use for import so that quality is not degraded and the whole image is featured?

    • By Julieanne Kost - 10:44 AM on July 23, 2015

I don’t know the photo dimensions, I was importing images synced via Lightroom mobile.

Thank you all so much for you kind word and constructive criticism. For someone that doesn’t like to crop, I have mixed feelings with regards to the “scrolling images”. I thought that the way that the sheep revealed themselves was fun, but I’m not sure that it always works. Still, its fun to try something new.
The three best things about Adobe Slate were:
    1) There was a very small learning curve. Yet, because of the well-designed templates, the results look professional.
    2) I created the entire project on my iPad using the collection of images that I had synchronized using Lightroom.
    3) The results look good across multiple devices (and I certainly couldn’t have done any of the programming!).

What beautiful images of a wonderful country! An impressive presentation! Thanks, Julieanne.

  • By Les Sakamoto - 6:54 PM on July 23, 2015

Inspiring and very beautiful work, Julieanne! Like some others have commented, though, the scrolling presentation was sometimes a bit “distracting” from the wonderful photographic and literary content. Thanks so much for sharing! Visiting New Zealand has always been on our long bucket list, and now it’s certainly jumped a couple of notches higher!

Love the barn! Would you do a video with a walk through of the post processing?

    Hi Julieanne,
Great images, so pleased you had the time and opportunity to see something of the country.
Guess you didn’t tackle the 254 steps at Cape Palliser!! Hope you can come back sometime
