Discover a quick an easy way to create Web galleries to share with clients and friends using Lightroom’s Web module.
Navigate to the Web Module — Command + Option + 7 (Mac) | Control + Alt + 7 (Win ), will take you to the Web module regardless of the currently selected module.
Reload a Gallery — Command + R (Mac) | Control + R (Win) reloads the web gallery.
Preview a Web Gallery — Command + Option + P (Mac) | Control + Alt + P (Win) builds a gallery preview and displays it in a browser.
Export a Web Gallery — Command + J (Mac) | Control + J (Win) exports the Web Gallery.
CSS Tags — Command + Option + Shift + / (Mac) | Control + Alt + Shift + / (Win) toggles the Appearance panel’s options to CSS tags.
Working with Templates — Command (Mac) / Control (Win) + N creates a new template. Command (Mac) / Control (Win) + Shift + N creates a new folder for templates.
- Control (Mac) | right (Win) -click on a Template and choose Show in Finder (Mac ) | Reveal in Explorer (Win) to automatically display the corresponding presets folder (to share templates with others or across machines.)
Filtering the Selected Source — The Content Selector (in the tool bar) enables filtering based on All Filmstrip Photos, Selected Photos or Flagged Photos. Or, refine the selection of images using the Filter options (on the right side of the tool bar).
- Choose a different collection using the Collections panel.
- Use the Go Back / Go Forward navigation icons to view recently viewed folders (located in the black bar above the filmstrip).
- Click the path for the currently selected image (located in the black bar above the filmstrip) and choose from Recent and Favorite Sources.
Reorder Images — Drag to reposition images using the filmstrip to reorder images in the Web Gallery.
Create Saved Web Galleries — In order to save Web Gallery settings with a set of images, click Create Saved Web Gallery at the top of the creation’s preview area or use the shortcut Command + S (Mac) | Control + S (Win). When you choose to create a Saved Web Gallery, the project is saved in the Collections panel. To create a duplicate of any saved project (to create another Web Gallery with the same layout but different images for example), right -click (or Control -click Mac) on a collection and choose Duplicate Collection from the context sensitive menu.
Decreased Saturation — Depending on the image, you may see a decrease in saturation in both the Flash gallery and the HTML galleries in the Web Gallery. This is actually expected behavior and occurs partially because the original images that you’re viewing in the Library and Develop modules are displayed in a larger color space and because the images probably have more colors than the Web module’s sRGB color space can display. As the colors are moved from the larger color space, down into the smaller (sRGB) color space, they appear to loose saturation.
In addition, Lightroom uses the default browser for your OS to display the preview of the image in Lightroom. If the computer is using a color profile that’s different from sRGB, and the default browser isn’t color managed, the colors will be shifted in the Web module.
Additionally, remember that your web gallery will be viewed by whatever browser the visitors to your website are using. Most computers are not color calibrated and many browsers are not color managed, so most of your visitors will have slightly different experiences.
Sharpening on Output — Lightroom Classic automatically adjusts the amount of sharpening applied to images based on if and how much an image is increased/decreased in size before outputting the web gallery.
Is there a way to publish videos using the web module? When I select a video in the library, the web module makes a photo out of it. I want to be able to publish videos as well as photos. Thanks.
Not at this time.
