Following are several tips, tricks, and shortcuts for working in the Slideshow module in Lightroom Classic.
Navigate to the Slideshow Module — Command + Option + 5 (Mac) | Control + Alt + 5 (Win ), will take you to the slideshow module regardless of the currently selected module.
Working with Captions — Long captions may be truncated in the Slideshow module because it doesn’t wrap text. To manually insert line breaks, Option + Shift + Enter (Mac) | Alt + Shift + Return (Win) in the Caption field in the Metadata panel in the Library module.
Filtering the Selected Source — The Content Selector (in the tool bar) enables filtering based on All Filmstrip Photos, Selected Photos or Flagged Photos. Or, refine the selection of images using the Filter options (on the right side of the tool bar).
Selecting Different Images — While in the Slideshow Module, instead of returning to the Library module to select different files, you can:
- Choose a different collection using the Collections panel.
- Use the Go Back / Go Forward navigation icons to view recently viewed folders (located in the black bar above the filmstrip).
- Click the path for the currently selected image (located in the black bar above the filmstrip) and choose from Recent and Favorite Sources.
- Reorder images in the Output modules by dragging them in the Filmstrip.
Preview and Play a Slideshow — Option + Enter (Mac) | Alt + Return (Win) previews a slideshow in the preview window while Command + Return (Mac) | Control + Return (Win) plays a slideshow full screen.
- To pause a Slideshow, tap the Spacebar. Tap the Spacebar again to resume playing.
- While the Slideshow is paused, tap the left/right arrows to move to the previous/next slide.
- To stop a slide show tap the Escape key.
Working with Templates — Command (Mac) / Control (Win) + N creates a new template.
- Command (Mac) / Control (Win) + Shift + N creates a new folder for templates.
- Control (Mac) | right (Win) -click on a Template and choose Show in Finder (Mac ) | Reveal in Explorer (Win) to automatically display the corresponding presets folder (to share templates with others or across machines.)
Create Saved Slideshows — In order to save slideshow settings with a set of images, click Create Saved Slideshow at the top of the creation’s preview area or use the shortcut Command + S (Mac) | Control + S (Win). When you choose to create a Saved Slideshow, the project is saved in the Collections panel. To create a duplicate of any saved project (to create another slideshow with the same layout but different images for example), right -click (or Control -click Mac) on a collection and choose Duplicate Collection from the context sensitive menu.
Exporting Slideshows — Command + Option + J (Mac) | Control + Alt + J (Win ) exports a slideshow directly to video.
- Command + J (Mac) | Control + J (Win) exports the slideshow as a PDF.
- Command + Shift + J (Mac) | Control+ Shift + J (Win) exports a sequence of JPEG files. (Option (Mac) | Alt (Win) toggles the Export PDF button (in the lower left) to Export JPEG files.)
